Bruce Matthews is Associate
Professor of Philosophy at Bard High School Early College, a seven your old
program located on the Lower East Side in Manhattan, dedicated to providing
free higher education to underserved populations. A founding member of the
faculty, Dr. Matthews has lectured in India, Turkey and throughout Europe,
both at conferences and as a Senior Fulbright Scholar. His most recent publication,
a translation of F.W,J. Schelling, The Grounding of Positive Philosophy:
The Berlin Lectures (SUNY Press), appeared in July 2007. He serves on
the board of directors of
Citta, a NPO that runs hospitals, schools
and women’s centers in India and Nepal, as well as being a member of the US
Steering Committee of the
Global Marshal Plan Initiative.
