Bruce Matthews is Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Bard High School Early College, a seven your old program located on the Lower East Side in Manhattan, dedicated to providing free higher education to underserved populations. A founding member of the faculty, Dr. Matthews has lectured in India, Turkey and throughout Europe, both at conferences and as a Senior Fulbright Scholar. His most recent publication, a translation of F.W,J. Schelling, The Grounding of Positive Philosophy: The Berlin Lectures (SUNY Press), appeared in July 2007. His next publication, Life as the Schema of Freedom: Schelling's Organic Form of Philosophy, is currently in production and scheduled for publication in 2010 (SUNY Press). He serves on the board of directors of Citta, a charity that runs hospitals, schools and women’s centers in India and Nepal, as well as being a member of the US Steering Committee of the Global Marshal Plan Initiative.
